This happened at the end of the American Revolution when the Tories, who thought they were winning, woke up to discover the British were gone and they were --Left Behind. They also found they were completely outside the new establishment and feverishly threw themselves into exploiting whatever kind of alternative venue they could find, which is why we have such a rich history of school boards and church groups and busybodies and generations of conceited gorks all intent upon doing whatever they can to destroy society while pretending to tradition and conservatism, and, inevitably, the nitwits with nothing else to do who think they're 'pushing the envelope' by wallowing in obscenity, contempt and derangement in more or less self-conscious efforts to undermine the first amendment.

This is why classic American conservative bellicosity, like any drunk in a bar who thinks he's in there for a reason, will always boil down to 'no taxation without representation', exactly as if they weren't represented and they were talking about London. But their real agenda is to turn the US into New Orleans so they can euthanize it,




and in this way make the world safe for corporate feudalism, theocracy and a military society, all the lost causes that washed up in the colonies and lost again when the United States was born.
